Last Friday, September 6th, 2024, the much-anticipated moment finally arrived! I, Kylian, attended the Petzl Night Trail, organized by Trailrunning Events in the Netherlands. Manja and Nick, both participating in their very first trail race, were eagerly lined up at the starting point, each equipped with the Milestone Rechargeable Warm Headlamp to light their way through the dark trails and to reach their next Milestone.
For Manja, this race was more than just a debut; it was a crucial step in her preparation for something far greater—a 60 km ultramarathon in Morocco, set for October 24th. However, the weather didn’t make things easy. Heavy downpours before the race left the scenic Leersum trails slick and challenging. Within the first few hundred meters, their socks were already soaked, setting the stage for an muddy race.
The course was divided into 6 km loops, and participants could opt to complete one, two, or three laps. Both Manja and Nick had committed to running all three laps, and they successfully followed through! Despite the difficult conditions, they crossed the finish line safely, just minutes apart, and proudly collected their well-deserved medals.
Nick was thrilled with the experience, already looking forward to future trail races. For Manja, this event was an excellent training run as she continues her preparation for the ultramarathon in Morocco.
Stay tuned for more updates on Manja’s journey as she takes on this incredible challenge! And don‘t forget to follow her story instagram.com/manjasmission/
Until the next Milestone,
Kylian
